History of Our Church
How it all began…
Pastor John Beauprey and his wife, Alice, and their children came to Wisconsin from Missouri to preach a tent revival. It was after the tent revival that Pastor John Beauprey felt God calling him to start a church in Horicon.
Pastor Beauprey was a 1972 graduate of Mayville High School. He then moved to Washington where he became a “Born Again” believer. He also met his wife, Alice in Washington. He became involved in ministry and served at Little Chapel of the Valley in Snoqualmie, Washington for 3 years and then moved to Lebanon, Missouri where he served as Assistant Pastor at Faith Temple for four years. He then returned to Horicon, Wisconsin to share the joy and peace he has found in Jesus Christ.
After the church’s initial start at the South View school gym on August 26, 1982, it moved to the Mayville Park Pavilion in November of that year. With the church’s continued growth, the Old “Bakery Building”, located at 313 E Lake St. in Horicon was purchased in 1983. Two years later, in 1985, the 10 acres of land on which the present-day church sits, was purchased. The groundbreaking for the new building was in June of 1985. The church held its dedication service in August of 1987.
Over the years God has blessed the church. In 1987, the Lord provided for us to open up Highland View Christian School. The school ran for 10 years, closing its doors in 1997. In 2002, Mountain Top Christian Academy opened under the direction of Stacy Nummerdor. In 2005, the school began its first part of two building phases, with the addition of a gymnasium. We continue to look forward to all God has for the school.
As we look back over the years, we celebrate all that God has done for us here at the Pentecostal House of Prayer. God has blessed Pastor John and Sister Alice greatly. They have 4 children, 2 adopted children, 18 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
We continue to look forward to all that God is going to do here at the Pentecostal House of Prayer.
Pastor John together with his devoted wife, Alice, dedicated their lives to founding and growing the Pentecostal House of Prayer. Their steadfast faithfulness to the ministry that God had called them to is now being carried on by their children. Pastor John and his wife have been reunited together with their Savior, but their legacy lives on in their children who continue to run and support the church ministry.
